Things I Love At Weddings

Things I Love At Weddings: #1
I love open bars at parties and weddings. Need I say anymore? If you are coming to my bridal shower I would LOVE a huge bottle a Grey Goose...hell, I'll even take Ketel One.

What I don't love: expensive toasting flutes and cake cutting sets. I have a great job but I could NEVER justify spending more than a few bucks on this nonsense. I would rather get a hot stone massage and a few shares of J. Crew stock instead of Swarovski flutes. I could drink champagne out of a Big Gulp Cup. (And no, I am not saying this because our economy is in shambles. I would save said funds and spend it on a new Gucci purse) Next.

I Gotta Have A Slice

I went to a wedding this weekend and fell in love with this cake. It looks delicious and the inards were exceptionally tasty (I think it was Red Velvet but the Open Bar may be clouding my memory)

(p.s. I am going to attempt blogging every day...yeah boooooy)

A Jade Honeymoon

All I want to do on my honeymoon is lay out on the beach, drink alcoholic beverages, swim, and engage in adult activities. I do not want to go sight seeing. I do not want to go clubbing. I just want to chill. I have found the perfect place for our honeymoon: Jade Mountain Resort in Saint Lucia.

A couple that I work with eloped at Jade Mountain and I was simply FLOORED by the pictures. Each room has its own infinity pool and each room only has 3 walls. I know it sounds crazy but the 4th wall is completely open and has views of the sea and the Piti and Gros Piton mountains that sit in the sea.

I really didn't have any desire to go to the Caribbean because I have been there so many times. But when I was told how awesome Jade Mountain was I am convinced this is where I have to honeymoon.

What do you want to do on your honeymoon?

Petulant Bride

I am the Petulant Bride. The definition of petulant: cranky: easily irritated or annoyed.

I am overjoyed to be getting married this year to the most wonderful man, however, after a long engagement I am very disillusioned with the wedding process. This blog is an attempt to document the maddening process of planning a full blown wedding even though I wanted to elope on a beach in an exotic country.

So what was my first Wedding Irritant: Cake Cutting Fees. What the heck are cake cutting fees? This fee is normally charged by the reception venue to cut the wedding cake and place the delectable slice on a plate in a (hopefully) decorative fashion. This fee is charged for every slice. WOW. To me this is akin to going to a restaurant, everyone at your table orders a key lime pie slice and in addition to the charge for the slice of pie you are also charged a fee for the actual cutting. (In addition to tax and service charges). Beat it cake cutting fee. We are avoiding this ridiculous fee by having cupcakes. I REFUSE to pay a cake cutting fee. PERIOD. I would rather slice each piece of cake in my wedding dress and plate the pastry myself than pay anyone $1 to $2 per slice to do it. NO WAY.

What bothers you most about wedding planning?
